Learning Center
Cedar Valley College (CVC) Lancaster, TX June 2002—Present
The Teaching Learning Center (TLC) has become
the hub for innovation in the classroom at Cedar Valley
College. Its function is to nurture instructional design,
critical thinking, and technology skills for faculty at
CVC. Since becoming the director of the TLC, usage has increased
by 570 percent.
• Present and organize seminars, workshops,
brown bags, and roundtables with the goal of enhancing faculty’s
ability to instruct (see list below)
• Manage the Vanguard Group (a select
group of instructors who are practicing innovation in the
classroom) by observing classes, offering suggestions, and
teaching asynchronously
• Administer a 200 page Web site for
the TLC ( tlccvc.org )
• Publish monthly newsletter
• Provide individual consultation
in curriculum development and course improvement through
evaluation and feedback

Community Emergency Response Team

The program educates people about disaster preparedness
for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in
basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light
search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical
